Category: Augustine

Augustine of Hippo (354–430) was a North African bishop whose writings shaped the whole Western church, Catholic and Protestant alike. His Confessions tells the story of a restless heart that found its rest in God, and it remains one of the most read books in history. The Reformers drew deeply on his teaching about grace. The quotes below come from the Confessions, his sermons and The City of God.
